I will be implementing a Federal EETT grant this year with some of my 5th grade teachers (science). Part of that grant communication component is going to be the development of a online learning network. Originally, I had planned on using Ning. Now I hear Wesley mention that he feels Drupal has some advantages over Ning. I'm curious as to what people feel some of the advatages are of using Drupal over Ning?

Thanks to Miguel Guhlin, an audio recording of the first 44 minutes of our skypecast brainstorming session from July 30th is available.

Great discussions tonight, everyone! Let's add our ideas for projects here on the forum. The ideas we kicked around tonight (if I've got them all):
Careers
Digital Citizenship
Ghost Stories
The Holocaust
Regional History
This is just a partial list, I'm sure. Let's use this forum to talk about the Storychaser projects we'd like to see!
Meg :)

This is the text chat transcript from our brainstorming skypecast on July 30, 2008. Apologies for not being able to get everyone into the chat room... We'll work on using Elluminate next week for our meeting-- same time, 7 pm central. Link to be shared here soon!

ideas, resources and links to get $$$ for Storychaser projects

Here is an agenda for tonight's skypecast to brainstorm ideas for the Storychasers Project. Instructions for joining the Skypecast are also available on my main blog.
1. Introductions
2. Background for Storychasers
3. Why is Storychasers of interest to skypecast attendees, and what would you like to see this project become?

I've added a series of fields in the categories "Personal Info" and "Affiliate Info" for each Storychasers user. Please update your profile by clicking "My Account" in the left sidebar and then editing / adding to your information. If you have suggestions for other fields to add please let me know and we certainly can add them. Currently all fields are set to be public, but we can solicit fields/info that are not shown to the public, or are just shown to members. (Since our site is open for anyone to register now, however, that distinction wouldn't mean a great deal at this point.)

I'd like to invite anyone interested to join Storychaser project organizers Scott Meech, Cheryl Lykowski, and myself next Wednesday evening on July 30, 2008 for a skypecast discussion about the Storychasers project. We will start at 8 pm Eastern / 7 pm Central / 6 pm Mountain / 5 pm Pacific.

Welcome to the virtual home of Storychasers! We're currently in the process of dreaming and building this collaborative project and website.
