Storychasers

We're thrilled to announce today the formation of the non-profit corporation, Story Chasers, Inc. of Oklahoma. Story Chasers, Inc. has been created for the following educational purposes:

...the corporation shall provide opportunities for learners of all ages to create, develop and share their creativity through social media. Specifically, the corporation shall provide high quality professional development including face-to-face workshops, online workshops, and blended (online and face-to-face) workshops focused on digital storytelling, constructive social media use, open sharing of digital curriculum resources, and technology integration for educators and others. These workshop opportunities shall be provided to support transformative changes in classrooms, schools and communities, through a variety of models. We believe in the value and power of digital media and its transformative potential to open new doors of learning. We believe we need to retool our schools to support the learning of a variety of 21st century skills and digital literacies, as well as traditional literacies, and the work of our corporation will tangibly advance and operationalize these goals through a variety of provided learning opportunities.

Currently, Story Chasers' principal project is "Celebrate Oklahoma Voices." The online learning community for COV is lc.celebrateoklahoma.us. The schedule for summer 2009 COV workshops is available on covproject.pbwiki.com/workshops2009 and will be updated further in coming weeks.
